James L. Wassenaar Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of James L. Wassenaar of Orange City, Iowa, who passed away on November 14, 2020, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Wassenaar and Susan Wassenaar (Wielenga); his wife Mildred Verna Kuyper; his grandchildren, Hanna and Amelia Spoelstra; his great grandchild Alexandra Kay Nibbelink; his siblings, Joubert Wassenaar (Nellie), Ralph Wassenaar (Nette), Alfred Wassenaar (Bernyce), Donald Wassenaar (Alyda), Stan Wassenaar and Wilhelmina Gesink (Bill); his sisters-in-law, Eleanor Hooyer (Henry) and Anna Mae Dykstra (Donald); and also, Marion and Marie Kuyper (Remmerde).
He is survived by: his daughter Carol (Alvin G. Nibbelink) of Orange City; his grandchildren, Jamie Nibbelink (Kim) and Natasha Nibbelink; his daughter Charlene Katje of San Marcos; his grandchildren, Steve Katje (Shelly), Kristi Arns (Joe), Daniel Katje (September), Angela Igoe (Liam) and David Katje; his son Leon Wassenaar (Beth) of Crofton Nebraska; his grandchildren, Christopher Wassenaar (Rachel), Jessica Sonke (Brian), Jill Peters (Derek) and Sharon (Steve Spoelstra) of Valley Center; his great grandchildren, Eric Spoelstra (Casey), Seth Spoelstra, Morgan Spoelstra (Amy) and Nick Spoelstra; his siblings-in-law, Kathy Wassenaar of Yukka Valley, Marilyn Rensink (Wilmer) of Sioux Falls and Herb Kuyper (Kaye) of Sioux Center; and his close friends, Verlyn, Lori Westra and Arlyn Katje. He is also survived by 32 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
All those in attendance will be asked to use face coverings and abide by social distancing guidelines.
