He was predeceased by: his parents, Dick Klompenburg and Roevina Van Klompenburg (Cleveringa); and his sisters, Marlene (Henry Pennings) and Delores Cordle. He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Kay Bomgaars; his children, Mark Van Klompenburg of Orange City and Kara (Steve Dean) of Sioux Falls; his grandchildren, Aaron Dean, Allie Boedeker and Asher Dean; his siblings, Delmar, Clarine Van Klompenburg of Maurice, Rosalyn, Ronald Wenstrand of Omaha, Nebraska, Richard and Rhonda Van Klompenburg of Hospers; and his brother-in-law Dennis Cordle of Iowa City. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.

Memorials may be directed to Project 78 at the First Reformed Church or Northwestern College.

“My sympathies to the family. As children Harvey and I often saw each other as our fathers' families always got together on the birthdays of the Van Klompenburg siblings. We were the same age and so we played together and with other cousins. Sorry that Harvey had to struggle with cancer these last number of years. God's comfort to you in the coming months and years.”
