He was predeceased by: his parents, Neal G. Punt and Pauline Punt (Intveld); his siblings, Gerrit (Hendrina Punt), Harold (Louise Punt), Martin (Jeanne Punt) and Elizabeth (Henry Van Veldhuizen); and also, Virgil Kots and Eugene Nieuwenhuis.

He is survived by: his wife Arlene Jacqueline Nieuwenhuis of Orange City; his children, Gerry (Julie Punt), Terry (Jeanie Alderson Punt), Joel (Junia Punt) and Nancy (Mark Vanden Berge) of Sioux Falls; his grandchildren, Megan Punt (Troy Livingston), Brandon Punt (Felisha), Blair Punt (Sarah), Mitchell Vanden Berge (Emily Blackwelder), Allie (Macon Oplinger), Mataya (Cody Naber), Gerrit Punt and Carson Punt; his great grandchildren, Beckham Punt, Brooks Punt, Bergan Livingston and Liam Punt; his sister Leona Kots of Hull; and his sisters-in-law, Mavis Punt of Lakeville, Minnesota and Evelyn Nieuwenhuis of Arvada, Colorado. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to Northwestern College or the Tesfa Foundation, an organization bringing hope to Ethiopia.
