He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Pennings and Johanna Pennings (Gesink); his wife Henrietta Elaine Tilstra; and his siblings, Adrian, Henry James, Engelbert, Wilbur, Lawrence, Gerrit Pennings, Adrianna Nibbelink, Edna Fedders, Gertrude Pennings, Mathilda Deur and Harriet Pennings.
He is survived by: his children, Rhonda Pennings of Orange City, Karen Pennings of Orange City, Steven Pennings (Phyllis) of Stickney, Brent Pennings (Dianne) of Escalon, California, Scott Pennings of Sioux City and Greg Pennings (Janell) of Sioux Center; his grandchildren, Connor Pennings (Jenna), Aften (Gage Weller), Colin Pennings, Kendra (Scott Kamp), Breanna (Peter Bos), Adam Pennings, Regan (Zach Mouw), Parker Pennings (Ashlyn Ludwig), Meysi Pennings and Mikaiah Pennings; his siblings, Helen Anderson of Orange City, Milton (Judy Pennings) and Harold (Evelyn Pennings) of Orange City; and his sisters-in-law, Irene Pennings of Orange City and Margaret Pennings of Kalamazoo, Michigan. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
Memorials will be given to the First Christian Reformed Church and the Orange City Christian School.
