She was predeceased by: her husband Arnold John Smit; her son Roger Smit; her son-in-law Alvin Van Voorst; her sister Clarice (Jerace Vande Griend); and her siblings-in-law, Darlene (Harold Van Otterloo), Ronald Groeneweg, Marvin Wissink, Bud Krommendyk, Delmar Smit (Ardell) and Jim Kersbergen.
She is survived by: her children, Arlen Smit (Lee Ann) of Orange City, Audrey (Perry Raman) of Hull, Ron Smit (Adri) of Hospers, Joan (Randy Williams) of Omaha, Nebraska and Carl Smit of Holstein; her daughter-in-law Sandra (Chris Simbro) of Newton; her grandchildren, Angela Peterson (John), Stephanie Schwebach (Eric), A. J. Smit (Lisa), Karina Nonnemacher (Drew), Anita Vanden Brink (Eldon), Aric Van Voorst (Rachel), Stacy Ribbens (Eric), Nathan Raman (Lora), Bethany Reeves (Corbett), Emily Dorr (James), Ben Smit, Robyn Carnes (Jay), Scott Smit (Lindsay), Heather Smit, Jeremy Smit (Amber), Michelle Schneiss (Chad), Tiffany Page (Tim), Joshua Williams, Caleb Williams (Courtney), Kaylynn Smit, Carson Smit and Jaxon Smit; her sister Joyce Groeneweg of Sioux Center; and her siblings-in-law, Phyllis Wissink of Sioux Center, Luella Krommendyk of Hull, Judy Kersbergen of Wichita Falls, Texas, Mary Van Otterloo of Rock Valley, Howard, Arlene Smit of Hull, Allen and Rose Smit of Sioux Falls. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials will be given to the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City.
