We are sad to announce that on April 11, 2020, at the age of 95, Lela M. Downing (Onawa, Iowa), born in Council Bluffs, Iowa passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Straight and Marie Straight (Bumgardner); her daughters, Lana Chapman and Peggy McAleer; and her brothers, Harvey Straight and Loyd Straight (Eloise).
She is survived by: her husband Robert Downing; her grandchildren, Chris Chapman (NuNu) of Yakima, WA, Kelli Melton (Chad) of Graham, WA, JoDee Risinger (Steve) of Kailua Kona, HI, Sherice Dabbs (Rick) of Madera, CA, Monique Ramirez (Rick) of Carlsbad, CA and Toni McAleer (Dave Olson) of Early, IA; and her son-in-law Nick McAleer of Ute, IA. She is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law.
Due to state and federal mandated guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a Private Family Graveside Service will be held in the St. Clair Township Cemetery of Ute, Iowa.
