He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Downing (Townsend) and Basil Downing; his siblings-in-law, Richard, Doris Collette (Moeller), Starr Staker and Mike Staker; and his close friend Ron Myers.

He is survived by: his son Dick; his wife Roxi; his daughter Lisa Downing Lanier (Parker); his grandchildren, Jay Stahl, Mara Stahl and Andy (Denise); his son Troy (Kathryn); his grandchildren, Tobias and Ruby; and his friends, Dennis Slaymaker, Jim Conway, Josh, Jessica and Cooper Hayden.
