He was predeceased by: his parents, Leland Dewitt and Anna Hattie McClain (Michaels); his wife Patricia Fauser; his daughter Cindee Kae McClain; and his siblings, Rollis McClain, Glen McClain, Iva Heidt, Lucille Pattison, Hazel Miller and Genevieve Gusta.
He is survived by: his children, Pam Mahoney (Mark) of Urbandale and Jim McClain of Evansdale; his grandchildren, Jason Mahoney (Jessica), Joshua Mahoney (Margaret), Zachary Mahoney (Justine), Stephanie McClain, Cheyenne Chindlund and Justin McClain; and his great grandchildren, Sidd, Jack and Rachel Mahoney.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, social distancing and masks are suggested at the visitation and service.
Memorials may be directed in his name to Grace United Methodist Church of Oelwein or the Ross Reid American Legion Post #9 of Oelwein.
