She was predeceased by: her parents, Peter J. and Mary C. Vela (Vesh); her husband Marvin Leon Staton; her son Richard; and her siblings, Peter Vela, Jr., Bernard Vela and Mary Eick.
She is survived by: her daughters, Debra Higgins (Wayne) of Olathe and Cheryl Glenn (Ed) of Belleville, Kansas; and her grandchildren, Carrie Kuennen (Brad) of Ames, Brad Staton (Christina) of Oelwein, Alex Keyworth (Laura) of Raytown and Alena Coulas (Austin) of Overland Park, Kansas. She is also survived by 8 great grandchildren.
