He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto Kleppe and Lillie Kleppe (Barness); his stepfather Hildmer Berentson; and his grandsons, Jeremy Latham and Joshua Kleppe.
He is survived by: his wife Louise Hilgerson; his children, Rick Kleppe (Tina) of Oelwein, Chrissy Luckeroth (Chris) of Oelwein, Tom Kleppe (Jill) of Harpers Ferry and Lori Webb (Kenneth) of Oelwein; his sister Ethel Hilsenbeck (Dale) of Waterloo; and his sister-in-law Sharon Anderson of West Union. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren; his fourteen great-grandchildren.
