He was predeceased by: his parents, William Gruetzmacher and Eleanor Gruetzmacher (Plaster); and his brother Bruce Gruetzmacher. He is survived by: his wife Judy Gruetzmacher of Oelwein; his daughters, Dayna Wright (Kevin) of Marion and Debra Wells (Scott) of Fort Myers, Florida; his grandsons, Austin Wells (Alex) of Houston, Benjamin Wright of West Chester and Brandon Wright of Ames; his sister Jean Lipscomb (Jim) of Bondurant; and his sister-in-law Doris Gruetzmacher of Oelwein. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Peter Lutheran Church in Westgate or the charity of the donor's choice.
