It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Darwin Rueber of Oelwein, Iowa, who passed away on January 26, 2022, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Darwin Rueber to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold Rueber and Wilma Rueber (Brickman); his brother David Rueber; his niece Judi Cordes; and his brothers-in-law, Norm Cordes and Tom VanWyngarden.

He is survived by: his former wife Mary Lou Miller; his children, Kris Rex (Terry) of Oelwein and Brenda Rueber (Ron Huckfeldt) of North Liberty; his grandchildren, Brandon Daves (Christa) of Iowa City, Alison Pettit (Corey) of Charles City, Tony Rex (Cheyenne Voshell) of Des Moines and Megan Rex (Mason Kunkle) of Oelwein; his great grandchildren, Jacob, Natalie White, Finley Pettit, Hunter, Laila and Samuel Northrop; his siblings, Doug Rueber (Marcia) of Arlington, Lois Cordes of Strawberry Point, Jan VanWyngarden of Austin, TX and Karen Dahlberg (Doug) of Los Fresnos, TX; his former wife Mary Lou Rueber of Oelwein; and his sister-in-law Shari Rueber of Norwalk.

A memorial fund has been established.

“Dear MaryLou and family, We are so sorry to hear of Darwin’s death. Jim was up to see him last time we were in Oelwein and had a great visit. Went to his place in Florida each year just to check in and visit with him. His death closes a chapter in our lives as well as his. We will remember him and the time we spent with him in the last 65 years. Our deepest sympathy to you all. Jim and Margie Adams. Port Saint Lucie, Florida”
