She was predeceased by: her parents, Alphonse Hermsen and Olivia Hermsen (Wernke); her husband Delbert John Strawn; her sons, Jerry and Steve; and her siblings, Merlin Hermsen, Kenneth Hermsen, Vera Hickey, Jim Hermsen and John Hermsen.

She is survived by: her children, Christine Masters (Steve) of Oelwein, David Strawn (Cherri) of Independence and Rick Strawn (Jill Friedrich) of Ankeny; her grandchildren, Laurie Bognar (Chris), Trisha Haskovec, Mitch Masters (Kellie) and Nicole Reiff (Ben); and her stepgrandchildren, Patty Kane and Chrissy Corkery (Brett). She is also survived by 10 Great Grandchildren; 5 Step-Great Grandchildren.
