He was predeceased by: his parents, DeLos Thayer and Olive Thayer (Little); his son Grant Thayer; his parents-in-law, Albert and Mae Weitzel; and his brother-in-law Phillip Weitzel.
He is survived by: his wife Elaine Thayer of Odebolt, IA; his children, Peggy Hoffman (Ron) of Omaha, NE and Daniel Thayer (Daisy) of Odebolt, IA; his daughter-in-law Irene Thayer of Odebolt, IA; his grandchildren, Katie Parr (Andrew), Kristopher Thayer (Sarah), April Lorshbaugh (Lee) and Zachary Thayer; and his siblings-in-law, Kay Olson (Allen) of Nemaha, IA and Eugene Weitzel (Sandra) of Early, IA. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
