She was predeceased by: her parents, Donovan Patterson and Wanda Marie Patterson (Malcom); and her sisters, Marcia Lincoln and Darla Patterson. She is survived by: her stepchildren, Renee Foster of Arizona and Roger Foster, II of California; her stepgranddaughter Legend Joanou; her siblings, Kyla Logsdon of Oakville, Malcolm Patterson (Julie) of Oakville and Cindy Stevens (Brent) of Danville; her nephew Donnie Lincoln (Georgina, family: Shane Lincoln, Wade Patterson); and her niece Tiffany Carhoff (Andrew). She is also survived by family; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Gayla.
