He was predeceased by: his father Jim Hettinger; and his nephew Zack Wensman. He is survived by: his sons, Heath and Harrison Hettinger; his stepson Theo Ballagh; his mother Philo Hettinger; his sisters, Cindy Bostinelos Wood (Steve), Tena Bostinelos Wensman (Adam) and Penny Bostinelos Craft (Tom); his nieces and nephews, Stefani Wood, Zane Wensman, Kalliope Amos (Jacob) and David Craft; the mother of his children Holly Hettinger; and his partner Christine Gordon.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to the Science Center of Iowa.
