She was predeceased by: her parents, Ethel Swift (Donald) and Herbert Swift; her husband Richard Glen Carlson; her granddaughter Grace Patricia Carlson; her son-in-law Mark Kemmerick; her siblings, Mildred Mclaughlin, Herbert, Jimmy and Bobby; her niece Patty Ann Mclaughlin; and her siblings-in-law, Everett, Isol Carlson and Janice Ryerson.

She is survived by: her children, Joan Kemmerick of Austin, MN, Susan Klouman (Sam Wallman), Richard Carlson of Northwood, IA and John Carlson (Andrea) of Indianola, IA; her great grandchildren, Christopher Klouman, Amanda Levad, Declan, Samantha Rickard (Johnny Kirkbride), McKenna Rickard, Presley Rickard, Kelsey Carlson, Jacob Carlson, Hannah Carlson, Brooklynn Carlson, Lillian Carlson, Daniel Carlson, Joseph Carlson, Adam Kemmerick (Breanna), Mason, Finley, Brody, Matthew Wallman, Brian Wallman (Sarah), Peter, Willa and Andrew Wallman; and her brother-in-law Rodney Carlson (Lois). She is also survived by Many nieces, nephews, cousins.
