He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Joseph and Ruth Ardis Mathahs (Cleveland); his sister Rebecca; and his great-nephew Aidan Brunsvold. He is survived by: his brother Patrick Mathahs (Nancy) of Northwood; his nephew Brock Mathahs of Northwood; his niece Shana Brunsvold (Bradley) of Northwood; his great-niece Piper; and his great-nephew Callan Brunsvold.

The family suggests memorials be directed to MercyOne North Iowa Hospice.
