She was predeceased by: her parents, John Kahler Sr. and Bernice Kahler (Reynolds); her sister Naomi Nearad; her daughter Amy J. Buzalsky; and her siblings, John Kahler Jr., Janet Prymek, Sylvia Adams and Tiny Kinzenbaw (Ronnie Gerard).

She is survived by: her husband John Michael Gerard; her son Matt (Heather); her son-in-law Leo Buzalsky; and her siblings-in-law, Terri Beranek (Ed), Kay Tupper (Don), Linda Parker and Bob Gerard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Iowa City Hospice.
