He is survived by: his former wife Phyllis Salemink; his wife Sharon Toomer; his children, Dean Elder of Hanover, Vince Elder (Meghan) of Blum, John Elder (Jackie Thomsen), Mary Beth Maher (John) of West Branch and Bart Elder (Dianna) of Pella, Iowa.; his siblings, Linda Pierson (Tom) of Eldora and Mark Elder (Marsha) of Nichols; his grandchildren, Josh Elder, Dillon Elder, Kendra Elder, Seth Elder, Luke Elder, Travis Maher, Taylor Maher, Allison Maher, Kiley Elder, Brady Elder, Parker Elder and Sarah Katherine Horrell; his great grandchild Baby E; his stepsons, Bret Horrell (Amy) of Iowa City and Patrick Horrell (Emily) of Norwalk; and his stepgrandchildren, Haleigh and Ryan.
