He was predeceased by: his daughter Danielle Richtsmeier. He is survived by: his parents, Richard "Dick", Sr. Richtsmeier and Loretta Richtsmeier (Rasmussen) of Newton; his children, Travis Richtsmeier (Holly Keenan) of Newton and Ashton Richtsmeier of Newton; his granddaughters, Kylie Richtsmeier and Kaitlyn Richtsmeier; his great grandchild Sophia McGillivray; and his brothers, Richard, Jr. and Tim Richtsmeier (Angie) of Waukee. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
