She was predeceased by: her parents, John Franklin and Sarah Hammons (Cheesman); and her husband Russ. She is survived by: her former spouse Russell Dwayne Clayton; her sons, Kevin Clayton (Suzanne) of Newton and Kenneth Clayton (Sue) of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Betsy Provin (Ryan), Kathryn Clayton (Andrew Jaime) and Josh Fuessley (Amanda); and her great grandchildren, Graclynn, Gavin, Remington Provin and Mabel Fuessley. She is also survived by 10 children.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left in Velda's name to the First United Methodist Church in Newton, IA or a charity of your choosing.
