He was predeceased by: his parents, Oliver R. Peterson and Cora B. Peterson (Jewell); his wife Carolyn A. Dow; his son Curtis Peterson; his brother Earl Tony Peterson; and his siblings-in-law, Judy Van Sickle, Arless Smith, Stan Dow and Clarence Dow.
He is survived by: his children, Ranee Schiller of Newton and Duane Peterson (Amy) of Newton; his grandchildren, Michael Peterson, Matthew Peterson, Ryan Peterson, Ben Peterson and Alec Dowdy; his sister Beverly Anderson (Wilber) of Grinnell; his daughter-in-law Michelle "Shelly" Peterson of Newton; and his siblings-in-law, Rosa Dow of Newton, Ula Dow of Newton and Robert Van Sickle of Laurel.
