With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Russell Wayne Peterson of Newton, Iowa, born in Grinnell, Iowa, who passed away on July 10, 2022 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Oliver R. Peterson and Cora B. Peterson (Jewell); his wife Carolyn A. Dow; his son Curtis Peterson; his brother Earl Tony Peterson; and his siblings-in-law, Judy Van Sickle, Arless Smith, Stan Dow and Clarence Dow.

He is survived by: his children, Ranee Schiller of Newton and Duane Peterson (Amy) of Newton; his grandchildren, Michael Peterson, Matthew Peterson, Ryan Peterson, Ben Peterson and Alec Dowdy; his sister Beverly Anderson (Wilber) of Grinnell; his daughter-in-law Michelle "Shelly" Peterson of Newton; and his siblings-in-law, Rosa Dow of Newton, Ula Dow of Newton and Robert Van Sickle of Laurel.
