Robert J. Schaffer Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Robert J. Schaffer of Newton, Iowa, who passed away on February 9, 2025 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Simon and Luella Mary Schaffer (Miller); his wife Sharon Joan Ballard; and his siblings, Mervin Schaffer, Marilyn Berg, Lanelle Morrison, Janice Seuferer, Lucy Agan and Wilma Schaffer.
He is survived by: his children, Martin Schaffer of Newton, Melissa Gilchrist (Roger) of Newton and Jason Schaffer (Sarah) of Mahtomedi, MN; his grandsons, Jacob Gilchrist (Jaelyn) and Grayson Schaffer; his great grandchild Gabrielle Gilchrist; and his siblings, Darlene Bauer, Vera Seuferer (Harold), Doris Ferguson, Delbert Schaffer (Sandy), Wayne Schaffer and Helen Metz.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory (1115 E 19th St N, Newton, IA 50208-2539). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 at 5:30 PM at the same location.
