She was predeceased by: her parents, Oron Kirby and Coleen Thompson (Rexroat); her husbands, Kenny Brant, Charles Edward McCollum and Clarence Miller; her daughter Coleen Kay "Katie" Whennen; and her siblings, Sandra Bird, Rex Thompson and John D. Thompson.
She is survived by: her significant other Linda Roovaart of Newton; her children, Kenneth McCollum (Laura) of Newton, Veda McCollum of Des Moines and John McCollum (Angie) of Urbandale; her son-in-law Everett Whennen of Boone; her grandchildren, Coletta Whennen (Jason), A. J. Brown, Tammatha McCollum, Keith McCollum (Carrie), Kendi McCollum, Catherine McCollum, Charli McCollum, David Hagen, Alexander Hagen (Stephanie), Danielle Lynn and Lauren Fischels (Jeremy); her siblings, Linda Long of Newton and Rick Thompson of Newton; and her brother-in-law Gary Bird, Sr.. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
