He was predeceased by: his parents, Omer B. Smith and Arlene Smith (VanHoutan); his wife Gloria Faye Pierce; and his brother Bob Smith. He is survived by: his son Steven Smith (Merribeth) of Newton; his brothers, Keith Smith of Baxter and Chuck Smith of Newton; and his granddaughter Katelyn M. Smith.
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Reese Funeral Home & Cremation Services (310 N 2nd Ave E, Newton, IA 50208). A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Newton Village in Omer's name.
