She is survived by: her children, Rick Vernon (Des Moines), Chris (Denise) and Cameron (Kristin); her grandchildren, Bill Vernon IV of Newton, IA, Alex Vernon of Houston, TX, Madison Vernon of Carmel, CA, Maxwell Vernon of Ankeny, IA, Whitney Critchfield and Jane Hadley Critchfield of Sewall's Point, FL; her sister Paula Duncan of Des Moines, IA; and her nephews, Jed (Jane), Scott (Missy) and Duncan of Wheaton, IL.
The family requests no flowers or gifts. Memorials may be made on her behalf to The Des Moines Metro Opera or Simpson College.
