She was predeceased by: her parents, Jay M. Auten and Grace Auten (Adams); her husband Dr. John Duane Berthelsen; and her sister Barbara Baker. She is survived by: her children, Julie Berthelsen of Syracuse, Dr. Mark Berthelsen (Terri) of Baker City, Joel Berthelsen (Wendy) of Midlothian, Dr. Karen Koch Palm (Steve) of Des Moines and Philip Berthelsen (Chontel) of Des Moines; her grandchildren, Clayton Berthelsen, Cristopher Berthelsen, Amara Mattingly (Jeff), Stefan Berthelsen (Alex), Philip Berthelsen (Amy), Ana Berthelsen, Hannah Koch, Lynn Haden (Jake), Marly Koch (Ricky Burns), Chris Palm (Missy), Mike Palm (Christa), Ashlin Berthelsen and Nash Berthelsen; her great grandchildren, Sydney, Zach, Haley, Hunter Palm, Shiloh, Roslyn Koch, Owen Haden and Natalie Burns; her brother J. Morris Auten (Judith) of Schaumburg, Illinois; and also Al Koch of Des Moines.
