He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold Zimmermann and Laura Zimmermann (Jahnke); and his siblings, Joyce and Gary. He is survived by: his wife Carole Newill; his son Michael Zimmermann (Bernice); his grandchildren, Asher and Nathan; his son Chris Zimmermann (Kolleen); and his granddaughter Anna.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Lowell's family to Mission Central, Newton Dollars for Scholars, Our Savior Lutheran, or to a charity of your choosing.
