He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Marten Postma and Johanna Postma; his siblings, Antje, Iekje and Paul; his sons, Martin John and Aric Paul; and his grandsons, Andrew Daniel, Samuel John and Cooper Jackson.
In November of 2011, John was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship from the Rotary International Foundation in recognition of his contributions to his community.
