He was predeceased by: his parents, John J. II and F. Jacqueline "Jackie" Walker Longdin. He is survived by: his wife Diedra "Dee" Mathiesen of Newton; his sons, John J. Longdin IV of Newton and James L. Longdin of Newton; and his sister Sherry McCoy (Mike) of Ames.
