It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Joan C. Smith of Newton, Iowa, who passed away on March 30, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Schmidt and Beulah Schmidt (Patterson); her husband Bert W. Smith; and her siblings, John Jr., Charles, Leland, Richard, Eugene, Larry Schmidt, Leona Fahrney, Nadine Dee, Esther Shattuck and Maggie Swalwell.
She is survived by: her children, Mary Smith and Marty Smith (Tonya); her grandchildren, Brian, Stacey, Carter and Cole; her great grandchild Gabby Jo; and her sisters-in-law, Janice Schmidt and Helen Smith.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 4th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Reese Funeral Home & Cremation Services (310 N 2nd Ave E, Newton, IA 50208). A memorial service was held on Friday, April 4th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
