He is survived by: his children, Richard Armstrong (Robin) of Texas, Jerry Bird of Newton, Jackie White (Michael) of Des Moines and Gary Bird, Jr. of Newton; and his siblings, Cindy Van Zante (Duane) of Knoxville and Bill Bird of Illinois. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
