He is survived by: his wife Diana of Newton; his child Scott Cumpton (Tiffany Huff) of Knoxville; his stepchildren, Karla Lanser of Newton and Ryan Rader of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Ashley Cumpton, Kourtnie Nisius, Blake Nisius, Derek Lanser, Annika Rader, Brendan Rader and Stella Rader; his sister Arlene Byers (Verne) of Newton; his siblings-in-law, Bette Cumpton of Florida and Larry Benge of Cedar Rapids; and also Fremont. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
