He was predeceased by: his parents, John Tinsley Prather and Elna Thomsen Prather; and his son Jay. He is survived by: his wife Darlene LaVonne Amis of Greenville, IA.; his sons, John of Spencer and Jim (Barb) of Hudson, IA; his granddaughter Stephanie; his brother Dana (Carole); and his nieces and nephews, Karen De Francesca, Kristen Hutchinson, Keith Prather, Jeff Amis and Evans.
He was involved with the Car Club, Main Street, Meals on Wheels and RSVP to name a few places, being honored over the years for his many acts of kindness.
