He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father James McGilvery; his wife Marlene Goettsch; his children, Jayme Baumgart (Rick) of Swisher and James Hansen of Newell, Iowa; his siblings, Cliff Hansen (Betty) of Spencer, Iowa and Leanne Reynolds (Gordon) of Early, Iowa; his grandchildren, Shane (Jenn), Ryan (Nikki), Brett and Rochelle (Cory); his stepgranddaughters, Schelese and Shelby; his great grandchildren, Cole, Cooper, Jackson, Brooklyn, Bryce and Brock; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Kendyle and Pressley; his brothers-in-law, Basil Backy and Donald Goettsch; his mother Alice Hansen; his stepfather Bill Hansen; his sisters, Lael Backy and Lorelei; and his brother-in-law Duane Karstens. He was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Loring Hospital in Sac City, St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, or Buena Vista Historical Society in Storm Lake.
