It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Gertrude Ellen Benedict of New Virginia, Iowa, born in Lucas, Iowa, who passed away on December 3, 2023, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Jasper Baker and Bertha Baker (Kenneth Lloyd Benedict); her siblings, Arden, Jasper Baker, Opal Fletcher, Nova Giles, Evadna Baker, Leah Wallace and Irma Lee Newton; her son-in-law George Jones; and her grandson-in-law Mike Burkhead.
She is survived by: her children, Beverly Jones of Sumner, Lloyd Benedict (Christine) of St. Charles, Wesley Benedict (Sheryl) of Truro and Roger Benedict (Kathy) of Indianola. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the New Virginia United Methodist Church.
