With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Barbara Jean Dessel of New Sharon, Iowa, born in Brookings, South Dakota, who passed away on November 11, 2022 at the age of 72. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Barbara Jean Dessel to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by: her parents, John Johnston and Lorraine Johnston (Vickerman); and her stepfather Bob Hinrichs. She is survived by: her husband Ardell Dessel of New Sharon; her daughters, Jennifer Hempel (Chris) of Ankeny, Sara Lamb (Kevin) of New Sharon and Lacey Dessel of St. Joseph, Missouri; her grandsons, Braden Lamb (Katlyn Thomas), Garrett Lamb, Lucas Hempel and Carson Hempel; her great grandchildren, Aubrey Myers and Everleigh Lamb; her brother David Johnston (Kathy) of Sioux Falls; and her stepdaughter Angela Bruce (Darin) of Aurelia, Iowa. She is also survived by her step grandchildren; step great grandchildren along with many other nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial contributions in Barb's name made be made to the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter in Oskaloosa.
