He was predeceased by: his parents, James Mitchell and Theresa Mitchell (Hammel); his wife Donna Ryan; and his siblings, Jimmy, Kenny, Mary Jo, Teresa, Jerry, Peter and Billy.

He is survived by: his children, Mike Mitchell (Mary) of New Albin, IA, Cindy Lacey (Mike) of Galena, IL, Matt Mitchell of New Albin, IA, Mark Mitchell of New Albin, IA. and Jennifer; his grandchildren, Mikey, Vaughan, Hannah, Aran, Olivia, Henry, Tyler and Brantley; and his siblings, Lorny, Raymond, David and Esther.
