He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Bennett and Madline Bennett (Butke); his wife Helene Bloom; his sons, Richard J. Bennett III and Tim Bennett; and his sister Joan Cason.

He is survived by: his children, Connie Halter (Ted) of Sun City, CA, Larry Doyle (Jan) of Hinkley, MN, Lorene Hirsch of Nashua, IA and Lynn Doyle of Cedar Falls, IA; his brother Robert Bennett of Mason City, IA; and his son-in-law Don Hirsch of Charles City, IA.. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
