He was predeceased by: his parents, Guy Holmes and Catherine Holmes (Russell); his son Kevin Douglas; and his siblings, Kenneth, Donald, Dean, Beth, Winnie and Mary Lee.
He is survived by: his wife Mickey of Hampton; his daughters, Lori Holmes of Hampton and Jenny Elbert (Doug) of Grimes; his grandchildren, Cody Elbert of Tiffin, Spencer Elbert of Denver and Rozlyn Elbert of Ames; and his sister Lynette Swinton of Marble Rock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Catholic Church or MercyOne North Iowa Hospice.
