He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmett Worthington and Edna Worthington (Hocke); his wife Ethel Dunkerson; his children, Allen Worthington and Martha Worthington Purcell; and his brother Paul Worthington.

He is survived by: his children, Evangelism, Cheryl Estabrook of Muscatine, Mary Long (Gene) of Phrae, Thailand, Nancy Blomberg (Don) of Cheyenne, WY, Twyla Thiessen (David) of Davenport and Deanna McWilliam of Sydney, Australia; and his sisters, Anna Mae Haley of Detroit, MI and Twyla Humpleby of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren.

“I am sorry for your loss. I attended "Joy Club" on Kindler Ave. a block from McKinley School, where I went to school from 1960-1963 grades K-3. We sang songs like: "Stop, and let me tell you what the Lord has done for me" memorized Bible verses, listened to a Bible lesson, and most important for me-- had refreshments! I am thankful for Mr. Worthington's input into my young life. He was a godly man who truly loved children, and wanted to reach them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”
