He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Gillespie and Helen Pahl Gillespie; his daughter Justine Freeborn; and his brother Charles Gillespie. He is survived by: his children, Jean Heitmann (Lynn) of Illinois City, June Jones of Davenport, Heather Walker (Scott Neblung) of Davenport and Gregory Gillespie (Kelly) of Muscatine; and his grandchildren, Jessica Reichert, April Kofoot, Jennifer Taylor, Sarah Lane, Jacob Walker, Thaddeus Walker, Matthew Morrison, Evan Gillespie, Josephine Gillespie and Taylor Dowell. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren.
