She was predeceased by: her husband Ralph E. Hoag; and her brother Harvey Gifford. She is survived by: her children, Mattie Gifford (Bowser), Herbert Fickel (Vickie) of Milan, IL and Gifford Fickel (Estella) of Peoria, IL; her grandchildren, Amy Woods, Tori Bullock (Eric), James Fickel, Madeline Fickel, Emily Fickel and Katherine Fickel; her great grandchildren, Sam and Penny Bullock; her brother Merle Gifford (Mary) of San Antonio, TX.; and her siblings-in-law, Marilyn Korseberg of Washburn, WI, Esther Fickel of Washington, IA, Larry Ranard of Newton, IA, Melvin (Pete) and Crawford of Fort Worth, TX. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Grandview-Letts Lions Club, Letts United Methodist Church or U of Iowa Holden Cancer Research Fund in Shirley's name or sent to the family c/o Snyder & Hollenbaugh, 2907 Mulberry Ave, Muscatine, Iowa 52761.
