She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Omer and Mary Maurine Spilman Whitacre. She is survived by: her husband Ronald Brunk; her children, David Brunk (Danielle 'Didi') and Beth Chalupa (Doug 'Chup'); her grandchildren, Griffin Brunk (Martha), Morgan Brunk, Riley Brunk (Ryan), Quinn Chalupa, Tate Brunk, Maura Chalupa, Savannah Law and Ellis Ferreira; her great grandchild Giovanni Brunk; her brother Ken Whitacre (Lois); her nephews, Derek Whitacre (Maricela) and Dain Whitacre (Taylor); and her close friends, Brad, Mary Kisner, Robert, Courtney Ferreira and Yvonne McConnaha.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the American Legion (110 S Houser St, Muscatine, IA 52761).
Memorials may be made to the family, in the care of Ronald, for the purchase of a plaque at the hospital dedicated to Dr. Asthalter, whom mentored Kay at the beginning of her career and/or to the Muscatine Humane Society.
