She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Kay Ribbink and Thomas Burke; her adoptive father Douglas Petersen; her children, Travis Benefiel (Abby) of Mediapolis, Kayla Bartling (Zach) of Iowa City and Melanie Shoppa of Iowa City; her grandchildren, Lara, Leah and Lindi Benefiel; her child Bartling; her siblings, Chris Roush, Natalie (Jim Allen), Shannon (Gene Morris), Tamara Burke, Austin Petersen and Taryn (Josh Peterson); her husband Alex 'AJ Shoppa; her great-grandparent Mildred Nischwetz; her grandparents, Julia Simmons, Betty, James Burke Sr. and Beatrice Wilson; and her nephew Quentyn Allen. She was also cherished by many aunts and uncles; many nieces and nephews, and lots of good friends.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to their children, Travis, Kayla, and Melanie, in Rachel's honor.
