He was predeceased by: his parents, George Hutchings and Ocie Hutchings (Roof); and his sisters, Genevieve, Betty, Glenny and Dorothy.
He is survived by: his girlfriend Pam Freers; his children, Mark Hutchings (Jen Hahn), Rae Lynn Logel (David), Craig Freers (Jessi) and Jamie Freers (Trisha); his grandchildren, Tyler Hutchings, Tiffany McConnaha (Trent), Drew Logel, Dalton Logel, Mallory Freers (Colton Heuer), Meadow Freers, Morgan Freers, CeCi Freers and Graci Freers; and his great grandchildren, Harper and Hanna McConnaha.
A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Melvin.
