He was predeceased by: his wife Joan Emerson; his grandson Nicholas Peterson; his children-in-law, Tom Cooper and Betsy Peterson; and his siblings-in-law, Jerry Baillie and Bonnie Whitmer.
He is survived by: his stepchildren, Michele'Mickey'Cooper of Eagle Grove, Teresa'Terry'Meyer of Eagle Grove, Mark Peterson (Julia) of Wilton and Kurt Shawn Peterson (Lori Crane) of Walcott; his children, Susan Corrigan (Loren) of Cedar Rapids and Aaron Whitmer of Wilton; his siblings, Carol Baillie of Muscatine, Joan Kautz (Fred) of La Crosse, Wisconsin, Lysle Whitmer of Wilton and Mike Whitmer (Tammy) of Muscatine; and his former wife Twyla Bogaard. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
