Though her name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Mattie leaves upon the hearts of her loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of her spirit and the richness of her legacy.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Edgar Starr and Charlotte Starr (Martin); her sister Dorothy Mathis-Leaver; her son G. E. Starr; and her nephew Damian Strause.
She is survived by: her children, Cindy Covarrubias (Gilberto) of Muscatine, Kenneth Strong of Mt. Pleasant and Robert Strong of Decatur, IL; and her siblings, Rose Olson (Randy), Edward Starr, Connie Starr and Cindy Starr. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.
