She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Barnhart and Gertrude Barnhart (Gertenbach); and her siblings, Marilyn Barnhart, Forrest Barnhart, Wayne Barnhart, Weldon Barnhart and Phyllis Rahlf.
She is survived by: her husband Richard Castle Sr.; her children, Richard Castle Jr. (Pat) of Muscatine, Randy Castle (Debbi) of Muscatine, Ron Castle (Tracy) of Muscatine, Rick Castle (Ann) of Moscow, Marilyn Shaw (Tim), Carolyn BeVier (John) of Muscatine and Erin Dindinger (Bruce Lipkowitz); and her sisters, Velma Jean Theobald of Muscatine and JoAnn Nelson of Muscatine. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 2 bonus grandchildren and 21 + 1 on the way great-grandchildren; two bonus great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in memory of Gladys.
